University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepherd was only 21 years old when they found his body beaten to death by vicious attackers targeted because he was gay. During a an outside forum this week, faculty and students gathered together along with area residents in Laramie, Wyoming to express their feelings towards this situation.

Speakers during the forum, entitled,” Prejudice, Intolerance, and Violence” from professors to a 10-year name Derek parker who read his own poetry.

Granted, I am not for the lifestyle of homosexuality but to murder another person just because of that lifestyle does not make it right and should be label this crime a “hate crime” like any other crime that has been committed known and unknown.

The Attorney General and the Justice Department should investigate this crime and others like it without bias and should be carefully looked at as a vicious, violent, unacceptable, bigotry in every possible way.

Gay rights? Gays or being gay is a LIFESTYLE that should not be labeled as a person but only a LIFESTYLE.

Again, I do not condone the actions of gays and their lifestyle but to murder a person because of who they are is not right. That’s just like saying if you are Black or Native American or Jewish or Asian then you should be punished for what you are. The death of Matthew Shepard is a way of justice being served but I think not. Justice in this way is a crude way of American Justice and the system and the whole idea of freedom.

Once again, this justice “American Style” has turned its ugly head.
